Today’s Pick: Innovation in the land down under
The Australian government has been busily promoting Australian research and innovation in 2 key areas:
- The Department of Education, Science and Training monitors commercialization activity in Australia’s universities and other publicly funded research institutions and periodically publishes their results. In August, the department released their report on commercialization activity in 2003-2004, including results of a national survey and 18 case studies illustrating the range of universities’ commercialization activities, from early proof-of-concept, to maturation and finally to market.
- Meanwhile, the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources targets Australian entrepreneurs, providing resources for existing businesses and for young people trying to develop entrepreneurial skills.
