Welcome to the New MaRSdd.com.

The evolutionary pressure was on and MaRS has responded. Yesterday marked the birth of the next generation of www.marsdd.com, thanks to our hard-working IT team led by tireless portal manager and dedicated super-user, Cathy Bogaart.

The new site reflects a drive to streamline navigation, reorganize content and refresh design across a site that connects over 200,000 users each month – entrepreneurs, tenants, supporters, event-goers etc. – to the tools and resources they’re looking for at the intersection of science, technology and business.

Usability testing had revealed some challenges in the old site’s structure and function, many of which can be traced to the multi-faceted nature of MaRS itself. It’s true: MaRS can appear a complex beast and the original website reflected that complexity.

Now entering our third year of operation, it was time to tame the beast – or at least corral it into a more user-friendly structure.

We hope the new site will get you where you want to go quickly and painlessly and leave the door open to a little serendipity along the way. That’s a big part of what we’re here for: making connections that weren’t there before.

Will the beast still bite from time to time? No doubt it will. Evolution may be elegant but it’s not perfect. Tell us what you think. And bear in mind, evolution is always at work.
