Post boasts most for SMEs coast to coast
My uncle once told me that even when I was out of school, I should still read and study my subject area as if I was preparing for finals. Well, for those interested in entrepreneurship out there, the Financial Post just made it a little easier. Starting today, the Financial Post will be dedicating each Monday edition to small and medium businesses.
“…every week the FP will champion the causes that are crucial to Canada’s entrepreneurs < taxes, finances, red tape, exports -- as well as publish stories on the people and policies that affect the day-to-day running of your business... Monday's Financial Post will cover all phases of business development, from startup to succession planning, as well focusing on regular departments, such as finance, legal issues, human resources and technology.”
Other weekly features include:
- Rick Spence’s column on entrepreneurial hot buttons.
- Tools of the Trade, a review of the latest technological gadgets for small business, written by award-winning tech journalist Danny Bradbury.
In this week’s edition:
- FP reporter Hollie Shaw reports on the health of Canada’s oldest small business sector, the fur industry.
- Jon Harding covers the excruciating hunt for staff in Calgary’s overheated labour market
- Jim Middlemiss, FP Legal Post editor, looks at how red tape is hurting Canada’s entrepreneurs.
- Financial Post Ottawa reporter Paul Vieira grills Secretary of State Diane Ablonczy on her small business mandate.
- How best to plan to make the most a trade show
Online, the Small Business Centre has expanded its small business content and added a new resource centre with fact sheets on startups, finance, and sales and marketing. Their goal is to create the most comprehensive and useful online business resource in Canada. Expect the site to expand as content is added over the weeks and months ahead.
