Innovation awards deadline extended
Calling all researchers and industry innovators!
The nomination deadline for the 2007 Premier’s Discovery and Catalyst Awards has been extended to Friday, December 7, 2007 at 5 p.m. This is also the deadline for the Premier’s Summit Awards.
Premier’s Catalyst Awards
Among the suite of innovation awards established last year by the Ministry of Research and Innovation, the Premier’s Catalyst Awards provide five awards of $200,000 annually for developing a commercially successful new, or significantly improved, product or service based on a breakthrough technology. Funds received from these awards will be used to help Ontario’s most innovative entrepreneurs move their creative ideas to national and international marketplaces. For-profit corporations headquartered in Ontario and carrying out business in the province are eligible for this award.
Premier’s Discovery Awards
The Premier’s Discovery Awards, which total $1.5 million for research and innovation-related expenses, consists of four annual awards recognizing excellence in research for either a single discovery or a body of work on both domestic and international fronts. They recognize achievement in life sciences and medicine, natural sciences and engineering, social sciences and humanities, and innovation leadership. Researchers at universities, colleges, hospitals and research centers in Ontario are eligible for this award.
For more information on these awards, visit the Ministry of Research and Innovation website at www.ontario.ca/innovation.
Premier’s Summit Awards
Administered by MaRS, the third award in the suite, the Premier’s Summit Awards provide extraordinary research support for internationally recognized leaders in medical research whose work is transformative in their field, and who are conducting research in Ontario. The deadline for nominations is also December 7. Complete guidelines and application information are available at www.marsdd.com/premiersummit.
