Social innovation: A great conversation piece
It’s long been known that social innovation is an excellent conversation topic. But not until now has its potential been fully realized as it is in “Social Innovation Conversations, a podcast stream produced by Stanford University’s Center for Social Innovation.
The CSI podcasts bring you a wide variety of free presentations on topics from social entrepreneurship to sustainability to non-profit program evaluation to international development. Currently featured is the sure to be controversial, “Battle of Ideas – Recycling is a Waste of Time!, which, a disclaimer warns, may not be appropriate for work or family listening due to “brief profanity. Some other very intriguing podcasts include:
- Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay, on his network for investment in for-profit ventures that foster economic, social and political self-empowerment.
- Rich Duke, director of the Center for Market Innovation, on how to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions affordably
- Natalie Portman, who needs no introduction, on her work with microfinance networks for combating poverty.
